The queen's role in the general elections
Here is what she can or cannot do:
If Gordon Brown manages to form a workable coalition, the Queen would have no role to play as Mr Brown would carry on as Prime Minister.
But if Mr Brown resigns, the Queen would be required to meet the leader of the largest party in a coalition.
