Notting Hill Carnival kicks off today
The famous Carnival takes place in London every year on the last Sunday and Monday of August. It has taken place since 1965 in the cosmopolitan district of Notting Hill. The Caribbean population is at the origin of it. Floats, songs, dances and costume bands are the backbone of the festival. Competitions for the best masquerade or Mas for short, are organized.
